04/02/12     AGM and Chairman's Prize
 
The 2012 AGM took place in the Rayners room at Harrow Arts Centre, with about 50 members present.
Linda Chainey (Chairwoman) conducted the meeting, which started with an address from Roy Rodgers (president) and had reports from the other committee members.
All the present committee were re-elected, except for Derek Walker, who stood down from his role as publicity officer. There were no volunteers at the AGM to fill this vital vacancy. So, if YOU could spare some time to help the society, please consider this role.
 
The Chairman's Prize competition took place, judged by the membership, by an anonymous ballot.
The winner was Dow Pichaiwatkomol, and she was presented with a trophy by Linda.

11/10/11     Annual Exhibition 2011, Harrow Arts Centre
 
The 70th Annual Exhibition was declared open at the Private Viewing evening.
 
Honorary alderman Keith Toms said a few encouraging words then handed over to artist and lecturer Angela Pearcey to give her impressions on the diverse range of artwork on display. She said was excited by such an eclectic mix, then expanded on why certain artworks had caught her eye.
 
 
Thanks to the arts centre staff for running a good bar.

15/03/2011     Spring Exhibition 2011
 
Stanmore library was the new venue for Harrow Art Society's 2011 Spring Exhibtion.
 
It has the benefit of being open till 8pm on tuesdays and thursdays, and is well known locally for its frequent exhibitions of arts and crafts.
 
The exhibtion was formally opened at the Private Viewing evening by artist and tutor, Laura Reiter.

18/10/10     Annual Exhibition 2010, Harrow Arts Centre
 
At a private viewing the 69th Annual Exhibition was declared open by Jo Saunders, the manager of the Arts Centre.
She was impressed by the quality and the diversity of the art work on show and said she hoped the association between HAS and the arts centre would long continue.
 
The society's president, Roy Rodgers, gave an appraisal of his personal favourite exhibits, and awarded the "President's Choice" honour to the painting ‘Piano in the Barn’ by John Boardman.
 
 
Thanks to the arts centre for laying on a good bar.

06/02/10     AGM and Chairman's Prize
 
The AGM took place in the Lowry room, with about 50 members present.
Norma Stephenson stood down from the Chairwoman's role after 6 years in the position. She was presented with a bouquet and received the thanks of the whole society.
 
Linda Chainey was voted in as the new Chairwoman, to be supported by Jonathan Hutchins as Vice-chairman.
Also joining the committee are Derek Walker, Elizabeth Lunn and Marion Garner-Patel.

The winner was Daphne Bessford for her classic watercolour, and she was presented with a mystery prize by the society's President, Roy Rodgers.

03/10/09     The President's Prize
 
The President's Prize competition took place in the Lowry room at Harrow Arts Centre. The society's president, Roy Rodgers, gave the 30-strong audience his appraisal of the entries on the theme of "A place or event that has had or has a strong influence on your life".
 
After a break for coffee Roy awarded the mystery prize to Simone Detre for her striking portrait.
